Who can apply for Woodring scholarships:

Students enrolled in a Woodring program at any site, including alt route for one or more quarters of the upcoming academic year may apply.  Prospective students (Future Woodring Scholars, Maestros, and other freshmen or transfers who have not yet been accepted into a Woodring program), regardless of grade point average, area of study, citizenship, or residency status may also apply for some scholarships. Please email Woodring.Scholarships@wwu.edu if you are unsure if you qualify.

    • Open to anyone enrolled in a Woodring program who demonstrates community-based leadership skills

What you need to apply:

1. Application form

2. Transcripts: Official transcripts are not required.  You may submit photocopies or a printout of your WWU or previous college academic history.

3. Chronological list of activities: Please include any experiences you've had, paid or unpaid, such as volunteering, employment, working with community organizations or in school classrooms, leadership experience, etc. May include awards or recognition for such service. List length and dates in chronological order with brief descriptions. 

4. Essay: All applications require an essay. If you have been a Woodring student for two or more quarters, please refer to specific classes or course content that especially contributed to your understanding of your future profession. The more specific you can be about your own unique learning path, the better. 

5. Statement of financial need (optional):  Please limit this to a one-paragraph explanation of why you might have circumstances that are not reflected in your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) on your FAFSA or if you are not eligible to file a FAFSA.  DO NOT disclose personal financial (bank) or medical information.  Do not include a copy of FAFSA information.
