Please provide a brief description of the entry and how it was used by your organization:The Choctaw Nation's Economic Development Partnership is a regional EDO covering 11,000 square miles over 10 1/2 counties in Southeast Oklahoma. The rural region has a total population of 250,000, which is spread over an area comparable to Massachusetts. The two largest communities have a population of 17,000. Nine of Oklahoma's 19 persistent poverty counties are in the Choctaw Nation. No community has sufficient financial resources to market sites to national or international companies. Only three communities have a paid economic development professional. The Choctaw Nation has assumed a leadership role to market the region. The purpose of the 2023/24 Community Profile is to educate internal and external audiences as to successes and opportunities in the region. The document is distributed to local EDOs, site selection influencers, tribal leaders, and local leaders.
The document is researched, assembled, designed, printed, and distributed entirely by the Choctaw Nation at no cost to the community partner. This is the only document championing the region and, in most cases, the only marketing collateral the local EDO has to offer.
