Please provide a brief description of the entry and how it was used by your organization:Goochland County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Virginia and the Richmond Region. A key industrial corridor for Goochland is located in Rockville, along Ashland Road. This area supports over 100 businesses, including two industrial parks, three quarries, a landfill, and an asphalt plant. Ashland Road, a two-lane route connecting to I-64, faces significant congestion due to an outdated interchange. This traffic impacts businesses and their operations daily. Recently, the County secured two major industrial investments along Ashland Road: a 3.1 million sq. ft. Amazon Fulfillment Center and a 335K sq. ft. warehouse facility. While these projects raised traffic concerns among existing businesses, they also enabled the County to obtain state funding for a divergent diamond interchange with a second bridge to improve traffic flow. To address traffic disruptions from these projects and the critical infrastructure upgrade, the County collaborated with Amazon to launch the Rockville Opportunity Corridor campaign. This initiative features a dedicated webpage offering updates on construction timelines for major building & infrastructure projects along Ashland Road. The site will continue to provide information on closures and schedule changes for businesses to refer to. Complementing this, a direct mail and social media outreach effort ensures that businesses are well-informed. Goochland remains committed to supporting its business community, which is why ROC was launched.
