You chose to provide a short written description (up to 300 words) explaining how your organization makes an impact in the community.Room For Joy's mission is to provide creative, medically appropriate room makeovers for chronically ill children. In December of 2025 we celebrated 20 years of bringing hope and joy to medically fragile children and their families by transforming the child's bedroom from what can often look like a hospital room, into a fun, magical safe space for the child to heal and grow. We have provided more than 65 room makeovers that have made an impact not only on the child but their family as well. Most of our room recipients have been struggling with ongoing medical issues, sometimes from birth, and their families become overwhelmed with doctors appointments, procedures, surgeries, treatments and therapies. Our room makeovers not only bring aesthetic transformation but oftentimes things like old carpet are removed and replaced with wood laminate flooring, popcorn ceilings are removed and lighting is added. We take special care to address the child and their family from a holistic perspective. Our goal is to make life more joyful, hopeful, happy and healthy for the entire family! We are the only organization in Arizona whose mission is to specifically renovate rooms for chronically ill children, who tend to become "lost in the shuffle". There are many services addressing children with life threatening medical issues but families dealing with ongoing, long-term medical issues with their child are an under-served population.
