You chose to provide a short written description (up to 300 words) explaining how your organization makes an impact in the community.Loving Library is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of children in need through literacy, mentorship, and community engagement. Since its founding in 2020, Loving Library has delivered more than 17,000 books to underserved communities and established 10 chapters in Arizona, creating lasting access to books and literacy.
Our Arizona chapters have built mini libraries and reading spaces at organizations including Valleywise Health, Goodwill Excel Center, Ability360, local Title I schools, and other community-serving organizations. These libraries provide children and families with ongoing access to diverse books that support literacy, learning, and emotional well-being. To deepen our impact, Loving Library has expanded from book donations into our Loving Library Book Club, a 9-month literacy enrichment program led by our trained Youth Ambassadors. Serving students at Title I schools, the program combines guided reading, comprehension discussions, hands-on activities, and peer mentorship. Each participating child receives a book to keep, helping build home libraries and encouraging lifelong reading habits.
The program is producing measurable results. Recent surveys found that 97% of participants report reading more often since joining Book Club, 100% feel more confident reading aloud and sharing their ideas, and 91% say they learned something new through the program. Beyond literacy gains, students develop communication skills, confidence, and meaningful connections with peer to peer mentorship.
By empowering youth leaders to serve their communities and providing children with access to books, mentorship, and enriching educational experiences, Loving Library is helping build stronger, more connected communities across Arizona—one book at a time. We look to continue this program with your support and requesting $12,600 to help fund two book clubs for the upcoming school year.
