You chose to provide a short written description (up to 300 words) explaining how your organization makes an impact in the community. These are a couple of stories of a couple of veterans that Veterans Helping Veterans have helped in our community when they came to us for help. These are only a few that we have helped. We will continue to help our veterans in our community if there are vets in our community who need our help. Walter Babeky was a World War II veteran who came to us at the age of 100 with the dilemma that he had lost his work benefits and could not live his life without money. They took those benefits from him because he was 100 years old. We got to work right away to help him secure the disability VA benefits he greatly deserved for his service in the military. We did get those benefits for him quickly, which he and his family were very grateful for, because then they were able to take care of him until he passed away at the age of 101. We at VHV were very happy that we were able to help him and his family in their time of need, when their father needed help. He was an awesome man, we were glad to help him, and glad that we got to meet such an awesome man and to hear about what he did in the military. Bobby Peirce is a Vietnam veteran who called our office, needing help in getting a ramp built to his house because he couldn't get in or out of his home the way it was. So, all our veterans who work in our office got together with the help of VHV and went up to this man's home and began to build him a ramp to his home so that he could get in and out of his home. When they were done, the family was so grateful for the help and the newly built ramp that was built for their father. We at VHV were very happy that we could help this family and that now this Vietnam veteran can get in and out of his home safely. We also help our veterans with PTSD services, medical, transportation, rent, lodging, utilities, food, or anything else that they may need help with. We also help our vets with disability claims paperwork with the VA so they can get the disability that they need.
