As Arizona’s only statewide organization dedicated exclusively to burn prevention, recovery, and survivor support, ABF is built on a continuum-of-care model, “Prevent, Survive, Thrive,” in partnership with Arizona’s leading burn centers, healthcare providers, first responders, and more than 70 fire departments.
ABF advances burn prevention through community-based, no-cost smoke alarm installation programs and specialized education tailored to vulnerable populations, including seniors, low-income households, and the deaf and hard of hearing. Our child-focused Milo & Moxie program equips children and families with lifesaving fire and burn prevention skills through engaging school and community presentations.
For those affected by burn trauma, our Client Care Services program provides comprehensive support beginning in the hospital and continuing throughout recovery. Services include emotional support, financial assistance, medical garments and equipment, therapy, resource navigation, and individualized case management to help survivors and families move from crisis to stability.
Beyond crisis response, we create spaces where survivors can rebuild confidence, a sense of belonging, and joy. Our Thrive programs include burn survivor camps, offering a safe, supportive environment tailored to each age group, serving children, teens, and adults who can connect with others who understand their experience, participate in age-appropriate activities, and practice coping and life skills that strengthen resilience. Camp is often where survivors realize they are not alone and where healing becomes community.
Recovery from burn trauma requires a coordinated network of care. ABF works closely with healthcare providers, mental health professionals, community organizations, and first responders to ensure survivors receive holistic support throughout their lifetime
