You chose to provide a short written description (up to 300 words) explaining how your organization makes an impact in the community.Sleep in Heavenly Peace Arizona (SHP AZ) is a nonprofit organization that has a simple yet powerful goal: to ensure no child in our community has to sleep on the floor. For children, having a comfortable and safe place to sleep is essential for their well-being. Unfortunately, many families experiencing poverty or other crises cannot provide this necessity. Our team of dedicated volunteers works tirelessly to build and deliver fully furnished twin-size beds to families in need. By providing beds to children who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor, we don't just give them a place to sleep, but also a sense of security, comfort, and dignity. SHP AZ believes that every child deserves a good night's sleep and a chance to succeed, and we are committed to making that a reality for as many children as possible.
Established in 2018, SHP AZ serves children ages 3-17 across Maricopa County who do not have a bed of their own. SHP AZ builds and delivers fully furnished beds for children ages 3 to 17 who do not have a bed of their own. Each bed includes a hand-built wooden frame, a new twin mattress, sheets, a pillow, and a blanket. Beds are constructed by volunteers during community Build Days and delivered and assembled in children’s homes during Delivery Days. Beds are built at the SHP AZ workshop in Phoenix during volunteer-led Build Days. Completed bed components are assembled and delivered by volunteer delivery teams, ensuring children receive safe, fully furnished beds in their homes. Since its founding, SHP AZ has built and delivered more than 12,000 beds, including 4,021 beds in 2025 alone. Its goal is simple and urgent: no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.
