You chose to provide a short written description (up to 300 words) explaining how your organization makes an impact in the community. At Young & Empowered Women (Y&E), we believe in a world of leadership without limits—every woman, every role. Since 2021, we've been tirelessly dedicated to closing the gender gap and empowering women through our core pillars of professional development, mentorship, and networking. There are clear systemic inequities and barriers that limit the ability of women to compete in the labor force, receive higher lifetime earnings, and find opportunities for professional growth. On average, women In Arizona earn 83 cents for every dollar earned by a male counterpart, a disparity that grows for women of color: African American women earn 63 cents, Native American women earn 60 cents and Latinx women earn 55 cents. The demand for resources to provide economic empowerment and opportunity to women is increasing as the gender gap continues to widen. This is exacerbated by a lack of women leaders in many business sectors and ultimately leaves rising female leaders without proper mentorship or access to leadership development. Founded during the global pandemic, Y&E has built a network of over 200+ cohort members and alumni, 67% of whom identify as first-generation college students and 65% as women of color. Our unique combination of intentional and diverse professional development, mentorship and networking opportunities is making a difference in closing the gender gap. 1 in 3 of our members made a positive career shift, 1 in 4 have successfully negotiated their salaries, and 90% have grown their professional networks - all attributed to Y&E programming.
