Why you feel this person deserves this award.Service has always meant more to me than simply giving my time. It means showing up, using the resources I have, and doing what I can to leave my community a little better than I found it.
My work with the Humane Society of St. Lucie County has allowed me to advocate for animals in need and support an organization that gives a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Through DoYouGiveARuck, I have had the privilege of supporting and giving back to our veterans, men and women who have already given so much to all of us.
One of the areas closest to my heart is workforce development through the Treasure Coast Builders Association. I am passionate about creating opportunities for our local youth and introducing them to careers in the skilled trades. Helping a young person discover a career path, gain hands on experience, and ultimately find employment is incredibly rewarding. These are not just jobs. They are opportunities to build confidence, independence, and a future.
I believe humanitarian service takes many forms. Sometimes it is helping an animal find safety. Sometimes it is standing beside a veteran. Sometimes it is opening a door for a young person who simply needs someone to give them an opportunity.
I don’t serve for recognition. I serve because I genuinely believe we all have a responsibility to use our time, talents, relationships, and resources to help others.
Being considered for Humanitarian of the Year is incredibly meaningful because service to my community is not something I do. It is a part of who I am.
