Diagnosed at a young age with Diabetes Type 1, asthma and endometriosis, she has been involved in a variety of international projects, focusing on psychological aspects, peer support and raising awareness to fight stigma surrounding chronic conditions/disabilities. Insulea.de was one of the first German blogs about living with Type 1 Diabetes. In June 2021, Lea initiated Blickwinkel Diabetes, a German volunteer organization for people living with diabetes that strengthens peer support and educational work through online and offline events.
