Submission AbstractHydroPhos Solutions is a circular economy social venture that utilizes phosphorus filtration technology to extract phosphorus from wastewater processed by municipal wastewater treatment plants, subsequently reselling this phosphorus to phosphate fertilizer manufacturers.
Value Proposition At scale, our solution will put downward pressure on phosphorus prices and therefore food prices, thus improving the affordability and longevity of our global food supply. Our solution will also prevent eutrophication, a process that destroys aquatic ecosystems and creating immense methane emissions
How we plan to make moneyWith average installation revenue per wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of $4.4 million and $640,000 in ARR from each wastewater treatment plant’s resulting phosphorus, we expect to be profitable (35% margins for WWTPs, 46% for phosphorus) while also garnering attractive ROIs for our customers.
Launch StrategyWhen we launch, we plan to do so in Florida, which has the greatest eutrophication problem of any US state, contains over 2,000 WWTPs, and is the phosphate capital of the country. This proximity between WWTPs and fertilizer producers in Florida minimizes distribution costs.
