Submission AbstractThe Sonura Beanie was designed to protect newborns from high frequency & intensity noise exposure in the NICU while promoting neurodevelopment through transmission of parental audio messages. It consists of three main components: frequency-dependent filter, mobile application, & microcontroller.
Value Proposition Life-saving devices in NICUs contribute to noise that often exceeds safe thresholds, increasing patients' risk for developmental impairments. Our product uses frequency-dependent attenuation & a parental engagement platform to protect patients in the present & enable them to flourish in the future.
How we plan to make moneyProfitability will come after sales to university hospitals. Insurance reimbursement will be done via current CPT codes. Codes to cover the beanie reimburse Sonura’s price. Hospitals administer the therapy for reimbursement under codes to cover prescription & administration, resulting in profit.
Launch StrategyPost-510(k) approval, the beanie will be released at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. After proving the device’s benefits, Sonura will expand to 5 Philadelphia academic hospitals. It will then release across the East Coast then West Coast – markets with high densities of academic hospitals.
