Submission NameSeneca Valley Ehrman Crest Elementary and Middle School
Project Intent StatementEhrman Crest Elementary and Middle School reimagines the K-12 learning experience. The building itself becomes a tool for teaching through a series of porous environments that allow students to exercise choice in a unique way. These environments transform historically unused features of a school’s built environment (i.e., corridors, walls, etc.) into elements that promote out-of-classroom learning. All design decisions were shaped by what students need to be successful, regardless of their learning style.
The design of Ehrman Crest embraces a more thoughtful approach to flexibility, and the school’s unique spaces allow all to feel comfortable through periods of change. Grade levels are strategically organized as communities that include classrooms, collaborative areas, peg walls, labs and areas for small group instruction.
