Project Intent StatementWhen the owners of a weatherworn two-story decided to develop a mixed-use building, they were interested in pursuing progressive design concepts such as sustainability, energy efficiency, and well-being. To that end, the design team produced a high-performance building that checks off each important element while at the same time providing a streamlined aesthetic that adds presence to a busy main street.
The ground floor at 400 Beaver is a retail space and the top two stories are residential units. The building design emphasizes well-being by featuring an advanced conditioning and softening system for clean water, vibration isolation hangers to limit noise, and an advanced HVAC system that produces exceptional indoor air quality.
By emphasizing carbon reduction and energy efficiency, 400 Beaver also impacts the community by being environmentally responsible. In addition, the streamlined, modern design acts as an instantly recognizable flagship for downtown Sewickley.
