Project Intent StatementThe intent of the Digital Futures Office Building was to create a speculative office building that would help its developer attract an innovative, research-based organizations to complement a growing innovation district development in Cincinnati’s urban core. As a speculative building, the building’s core-shell budget of $115/SF needed to match the design quality of its neighbor, a university research building with nearly double that budget. It needed to express technological innovation and creativity. But technology and architecture move at different speeds. How does a building express and support technological innovation long into the future? And how does it do so on a budget? By optimizing the use of materials, and by using simple components and repetition to create a complex composition.
