Submission NameBuhl Science Center Addition + Renovation
Project Intent StatementThe Buhl Science Center is an existing building located at the heart of Chatham University's main campus flanking the Falk Hall Quad. The original front-facing 2-story structure was built in the Georgian-style with a symmetrical brick and stone facade. In 1998, a 4-story addition was added to the back of the existing building which includes a large 3-story atrium and various science teaching labs. The Science Department currently uses the building to teach undergraduate level science courses, and house several graduate research labs, staff offices, and classrooms.
The primary goal of this project is to better serve the increasing STEM enrollment at the University. The intent is to add an addition to the east side of the building to increase the number of teaching and research labs, as well as to provide more amenities like student collaboration spaces and staff offices.
