Project Intent StatementUpon the first meeting, this homeowner was equipped with a hand sketch of their dream home, a traditional four-square brick house with a front porch. The twist? The homeowner, a local artist and art teacher, wanted the exterior of the house to have the timeless character of a traditional home, but wanted the interior and back of the house to be modern, open, and glassy.
The solution, is a home set back from the street with a gracious lawn and deep, inviting front porch. The exterior facade is symmetrical with traditional style double hung windows, limestone sills and headers. Even the brick selected is a special blend chosen to give the house an aged look, but once you pass through the front door, you enter a modern light-filled refuge for this young family.
