Submission #6655845
Project Information
Submission NameWestmoreland County Community College Student Achievement Center
Project Intent Statement The Westmoreland College Student Achievement Center is a faculty and student focused facility, specifically providing more efficient and dynamic layouts for the Enrollment, Student Success, and Administration departments. The project was conceived as a addition but to resourcefully respond to the budget the design team proposed a multi-phase renovation and re-skin of the existing Founders Hall facility, which was a converted high bay industrial building. These renovations provide more student collaboration and support spaces while improving access to student services. Logical wayfinding, providing collaborative spaces, efficacy and departmental identity were key design principles. The redesigned student center showcases its departments, opens corridor views to the exterior and provides much needed daylight to the building interior.  Through these targeted renovations, Westmoreland College transformed the campus by creating a new eye catching front door to the campus.
