Named for the year NCHC was established, the 1966 Society is an annual giving community dedicated to advancing honors education. Through their generosity, donors support opportunities for students, including travel, research, scholarships, and experiential learning.
The 1966 Society Micro-Grants help reduce financial barriers so honors students can access opportunities that support their academic, professional, and personal growth. For 2026, the founding donors have designated these $500 grants to support student travel and related expenses for attending the NCHC Annual Conference in New Orleans, November 11–14.
Applications will be evaluated on demonstrated financial need, meaningful honors engagement, the potential benefit of conference attendance, institutional support, and a plan to reflect on and share the experience with others. Institutional support may include financial or nonfinancial assistance and is preferred but not required. GPA and institutional prestige are not selection criteria.
Recipients will also be recognized at the NCHC Awards Ceremony on November 13, 2026.

The 1966 Society Micro-grants award three students $500 (disbursed at the Conference) to be used for the student’s conference expenses, which may include conference registration, airfare, hotel accommodations, or personal needs the student may have in order to attend.
