Call for Presentations

We would like to invite you to submit a presentation proposal for the 5th Annual CCC LGBTQ+ Summit, A Virtual Event! The Summit will be held online April 19-20, 2023 tentatively from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. This summit is a space for students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators. This year’s theme is “Fiercer Together - Uplifting Queer & Trans Students on Our Campuses.” We are looking for proposals that share practices and programs and from both professionals and students. If you are a student, we hope to elevate your voice as a presenter. We hope you will consider submitting a proposal!

Why attend the Summit?

The CCC LGBTQ+ Summit is an opportunity to collaborate with members of the California CommunityCollege campuses at all levels. We will learn from each other’s innovative and successful ideas that will transform campuses so that we better serve and affirm LGBTQ+ students. The summit is focused on improving not only individual community college campuses, but encouraging changes at the structural level as well.

How to Submit a Presenter Proposal

Proposals must be submitted by or before midnight on December 16, 2022.

It’s important that you fill out each section completely, and as requested, or we will not be able to review your proposal. Ideally, we would like you to be available for both summit dates so that once sessions are chosen, we may place them where they best fit for the summit.
However, you may indicate any unavailable dates/times on the form. Proposals will be reviewed by the Summit Planning Team and presenters will be notified of their acceptance status by or before midnight on January 6, 2022. Following selection and notification, chosen presenters may be requested to submit additional information or to revise session details based on the needs of the summit.

Selection Criteria

  • Presentation time slots are 60 minutes long including introductions and housekeeping announcements. Your session may be up to 55 minutes long and you are encouraged to meet the following criteria:
  • Provide applicable resources/methods for campuses to recreate/implement
  • Take into consideration the diversity of colleges (i.e., large, small, urban, rural, multi‐college vs. single college districts, etc.) and the student population (Students of Color, 1st generation, housing insecure, underhoused, etc.)
  • Grounded in research and/or data; practical experiences offering programs and services; or the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people.
  • Interactive and allow time for Q & A where possible

Virtual Requirements

  • A reliable internet connection (minimum 10 mbps up & down and, ideally, an Ethernet/wired connection rather than WIFI but not required); IMPORTANT: Go to speedtest.net and click on “GO” to check your internet speed.
  • The ability to present virtually (desk or laptop with camera and microphone, ideally using earbuds or a headset of some kind).
  • A private space that will not be subject to background noise during your presentation.

PowerPoint Requirements

All selected presenters will be asked to submit PowerPoint versions of presentation slides and PDF versions of any other handouts by or before midnight on April 10, 2023 for ADA compliance review and to be posted in our summit app (for attendees only). We will convert PowerPoints to our standard PDF handout format prior to posting and keep the PPT files as back up for your actual presentations should you have technical difficulties the day of your presentation.

Important Notice
Presenters are required to pay the appropriate registration fee ($75 for professionals and $25 for students) and register for the summit (be sure to register on or before February, 28, 2023 for the early bird rate) IF attending the summit. There is no need to register if you are joining for your session only.
