Local Scholarships for Local Students
Northwest Community Credit Union (NWCU) is proud to assist new and continuing students in achieving their higher education goals in communities we serve.
Northwest Community Scholarship awards 20 scholarships for $1,000 to students who demonstrate dedication to creating a positive impact in their community.
Larry Levine Memorial Scholarship is available to Douglas County students in completing their education and developing career opportunities even in the face of challenge. Larry Levine was a writer and educator Associate Professor who was killed along with eight Umpqua Community College Students in 2015. One scholarship up to $3,500 will be awarded to cover tuition, books, and fees for the 2023-2024 academic year at Umpqua Community College.
Eligibility for both scholarships:
• Be a NWCU member in good standing by March 31, 2023
• Be high school graduate or have a GED
• Attend nine or more credit hours for 2023 Fall term
• Demonstrate community service volunteer hours
• Previous recipients may not apply
Additional eligibility requirements for Larry Levine Memorial Scholarship:
• Must be a Douglas County resident
• Attend Umpqua Community College in Fall of 2023
Requirements for both scholarships:
• Short Essay
• Letter confirming community service
Please note: These scholarships are not available to Northwest Community Credit Union employees or immediate family members of NWCU’s senior management team, Board of Directors, or Supervisory Committee.
