The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy invites applications for the AACP Award for Excellence in Pharm.D. Program Assessment. This award acknowledges an assessment initiative or project that uses systematic collection, review and use of information to improve the Pharm.D. program. This award is designed to recognize a program for a novel or innovative approach to improving curricula and student learning and/or programmatic continuing quality improvement in addressing either Standard 7.2: Assessment Elements for Organization and Governance, Standard 7.3: Assessment Elements for Educational Outcomes, Curriculum, and Experiential Learning, or Standard 7.4: Assessment Elements for Student Services, Faculty and Staff, and Resources. This award recognizes both outstanding discrete initiative or project and global programmatic assessments for developing and applying evidence of outcomes as part of the ongoing evaluation and improvement of pharmacy professional education. Each winning applicant college/school will receive complimentary registration to the AACP Annual Meeting.  For additional information, please visit the award website.

Applicants will submit a letter of intent that is no longer than 2 pages double spaced by the deadline in early November.The Letter of Intent should address the following questions:

  • How does this proposal advance the practice of assessment through an innovative approach in the context of either Standard 7.2: Assessment Elements for Organization and Governance, Standard 7.3: Assessment Elements for Educational Outcomes, Curriculum, and Experiential Learning, or Standard 7.4: Assessment Elements for Student Services, Faculty and Staff, and Resource with the application of data, continuing quality improvement while contributing to the advancement of pharmacy professional education?   
  • How was assessment handled prior to the implementation of this project? What changes were made as part of this project?  What are the outcomes of the project?
  • What makes this project outstanding?
  • What are the outcomes?  List only three specific, measurable quantitative or qualitative outcomes.
  • How do you hope your proposal will help contribute to the field of Assessment in Pharmacy?
  • Include demographic details such as type of program (new/established, State University/Private), class size.

Applicants will receive feedback from the review committee on the submission and will be notified if they are invited to proceed with a full submission.
