The Pitt Alumni Association will present two upperclassman undergraduate students and one graduate student with Spirit of Pitt Awards during Homecoming week to recognize students who are committed to academic excellence, community service, and the Pitt Alumni Association’s values.

The students who receive the most votes from their peers will each receive the Spirit of Pitt Award, and $2,000 in student resource funds from the Pitt Alumni Association.

Applicant Requirements 

  • Fill out the Spirit of Pitt application 
  • Be in good standing with Student Conduct and fill out the Student Conduct form and including the following information: 
    • What Program: Spirit of Pitt 
    • Who is your supervisor?: Olivia Ernstoff 
    • What is their email address?: ofl4@pitt.edu  
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 
  • Full-time student 
  • Five hours of community service, which includes but is not limited to: 
    • Volunteering with your student organization or through PittServes 
    • Volunteering for a non-profit organization 
    • Volunteering for a community impact
  • Current junior, senior, or graduate student

Important Dates

  • Application period ends: June 2
  • Minimum requirements reviewed: June 2–9
  • Application and essay review: June 16–23
  • Interviews conducted: July 8–10
  • Homecoming Court announced: July 15

 

Required Participation

  • Paint the Town: work one shift
  • Homecoming Kick-Off
  • Blue & Gold Bash
  • Homecoming Game
