The application will remain open until Monday at 5 p.m. for anyone having trouble.
Tips if you have questions about submitting your application:

Q: I don’t know exactly how many hours I volunteered or recruited from others. How do I answer those questions?

A: Do your best to estimate. We don’t expect you to have tracked exact hours. It’s only one of many facets of the application—don’t over think it.

Q: I don’t raise a lot of money—does that mean I’m not a strong candidate?

A: No. This award is looking for impact through volunteer service. Fundraising is only one of many pieces of the picture.

Q: I don’t have action photos. What do I do?

A: Upload a screen shot from your social media or website that helps tell your story.

Q: I’m waiting for a letter from someone. What if it doesn’t get here on time?

A: If you are missing a piece at the Friday deadline, go ahead and submit the application then tell me when you receive the last piece next week.

Q: I hit the submit button and nothing happened.

A: Scroll to the top of the application and it will show in red what needs to be filled in before you submit.

Q: The digital signature isn't working...
A: All you need to do is click the box under the signature area.

About Good Neighbor Awards

NAR's Good Neighbor Awards recognize REALTORS® who make an extraordinary impact as a volunteer in their community, or on the national or world stage. The winnner stories are examples of the incredible impact REALTORS® make through community service. REALTORS® volunteer at more than twice the rate of the typical American.

Good Neighbor Award winners are recognized during NAR NXT, and they receive $10,000 grants for their charities. Winners also receive travel expenses to the conference and national and local media exposure for their community cause. In addition to the winners, finalists each receive a $2,500 grant for their cause.

Since 2000, the Good Neighbor Awards has recognized 260 REALTORS® nationwide for their service to their communities. Through Good Neighbor Award grants and associated programs, REALTOR®-led nonprofit organizations have received nearly $1.5 million in donations. In addition to grant funding, each winner receives national and local publicity, which typically generates additional donations and inspires new volunteers to get involved. Many REALTORS® are also recognized for their community service through state and local real estate associations.

The Good Neighbor Award deadline is April 10th, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominees must be members of the National Association of REALTORS® in good standing.
  • Nominees should have made a significant impact as a volunteer for 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Eligible activities are not limited to real estate or housing issues and may include volunteer work done overseas.
  • Nominees should have made a significant contribution of personal time, but contributions of money, materials, or other resources will be considered by the judges as well.
  • Nominees will be judged on level of personal contribution, impact of personal contribution, broadness of impact, and the project’s suitability as a role model for other REALTORS®.
  • The award recognizes individual contributions, not association- or company-wide efforts. However, if an individual can be singled out as instrumental to the success of a group effort, he or she is eligible. If the achievements of two people (such as a married couple or co-founders of an organization) absolutely cannot be separated, and they are both REALTORS®, they can enter as a pair and their entry will be considered as one.
  • The nominee's volunteer efforts should be current and ongoing. Some portion of the nominee’s community work must have taken place in the eligibility window of January 2025 and April 2026, but judges also consider past work that demonstrate a depth of commitment.
  • Nominees should be able to document the results of their individual involvement though published reports and/or testimonials from the organization they served or the people they helped.
  • Applications must be completed and submitted online.
  • REALTORS® may nominate themselves or may be nominated by someone else. Typically, applications from the candidate are stronger and more thorough.
  • The grants must be issued to a U.S. 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
