Alpha Chi and its chapters award approximately $90,000 annually to members in national, regional, and chapter scholarships and fellowships. Two of the competitions require applicants to first be nominated by their chapter advisor, which can be done by clicking "Create an Account" to the right of the page. You'll quickly create an account before accessing the nomination form. Filling out the form to nominate an applicant will automatically send them an email inviting them to begin their application. Fill out the form again to nominate additional applicants.

    Gaston/Nolle Scholarships

    • The Gaston/Nolle Scholarship competition is open to undergraduate members who will be enrolled as seniors in the fall of 2025.
    • Alpha Chi will award ten scholarships for undergraduate study. The two top awards among these will be the Edwin W. Gaston, Jr. Scholarships of $3,000, and the remaining eight (8) will be the Alfred H. Nolle Scholarships of $2,000 each.
    • Gaston/Nolle nominees submitting cooperative projects or work will be evaluated separately and will be eligible to compete for one $2,000 award.
    • Students must be nominated by their chapter advisor in order to apply for the Gaston/Nolle Scholarship competition.

    Sledge/Benedict Fellowships

    • The Sledge/Benedict Fellowship competition is open to undergraduate members who will be in their first year of graduate or professional study in the fall of 2025.
    • Alpha Chi will award ten fellowships for graduate study toward the master’s, doctoral, or professional degree. The two top awards among these will be the Robert W. Sledge Fellowships of $4,000, and the remaining eight (8) will be the H. Y. Benedict Fellowships of $3,000 each.
    • Sledge/Benedict nominees submitting cooperative projects or work will be evaluated separately and will be eligible to compete for one $2,000 award.
    • Students must be nominated by their chapter advisor in order to apply for the Sledge/Benedict Fellowship competition.

    Pryor/Organ/Freeman Fellowships

    • The Pryor Fellowship competition is open to graduate student members and alumni members who have completed at least two years of graduate or professional study beyond the baccalaureate degree and will be enrolled in doctoral study in the fall of 2025. One $6,000 Pryor Fellowship will be awarded.
    • The Organ and Freeman Fellowship competition is open to graduate student members or alumni members in the first or second year of graduate or professional study beyond the baccalaureate degree. One $4,000 Organ Fellowship and one $4,000 Freeman Fellowship will be awarded.
    • For applicants in either of these two competitions who submit cooperative projects or work, that work will be evaluated separately and compete for one $3,000 award.
    • Applicants for the Pryor/Organ/Freeman Fellowships do not need to be nominated by a chapter advisor.
