The Builders, a chapter of the AGC, staff and members of the board developed the first Building Excellence Awards program in 2002. The developers envisioned a truly prestigious award selected through a nomination and judging process with meaningful criteria applied to select winners. The biennial program honors top projects by our members. For BEA project nomination geography limitations, please refer to the membership county list.
Entry fees are $375 per submission, with an early bird rate of $299 available through Dec. 31, 2025. The Builders will send an invoice with payment details via email after submission. The deadline to submit is Jan. 30, 2025.
2026 Categories:
Project of the Year by a General Contractor or Construction Manager (four size categories): The Builders, a chapter of the AGC, is on a mission to advance the commercial construction industry. The Project of the Year Award recognizes companies that complete projects that are true pinnacles of excellence, serving as an example to the industry. Award winners will be able to demonstrate how they overcame obstacles or unique challenges or created a key contribution to the community. This award will be presented to winners in seven different size categories.
Project of the Year by a Subcontractor (three size categories): The Builders, a chapter of the AGC, is keen on collaboration. The Subcontractor of the Year Award winner will be able to demonstrate how their specialty service helped contribute to the overall success of the completed project.
Community Impact Award: The Builders is committed to improving lives through commercial construction. The Community Impact Award recognizes companies that contribute to the betterment of the communities in which they live, work and build. Award winners will be able to demonstrate their company's ability to mobilize volunteers or resources to benefit the greater community, to meet community needs, and to find unique or creative approaches to meeting needs.
Advancing the Industry Award: The Advancing the Industry Award recognizes a company that is leading the way in creating a stronger, more sustainable future for the construction industry. This award honors organizations that go above and beyond to advance the industry through inclusive practices that create access to careers in construction, including: education and training; psychological safety and mental health; recruitment and retention; networking opportunities; and marketing, branding and communication initiatives.
Innovation Award: The Builders, a chapter of the AGC, is a steward of celebrating the past, while also seeking to look to the future. The Innovation Award recognizes companies that are looking towards the future in technology or innovative process to advance the industry. Award winners will be able to demonstrate how innovation was used to solve a problem or improve process efficiencies or productivity.
