Description

The NCHC Awards & Grants Committee invites interested NCHC institutions and professional members to submit an application for an NCHC Portz Grant. These grants are intended to support honors program/college innovation and can be small (up to $500) or large (up to $1,500). Complete the NCHC Portz Grant Application Form, including your supporting narrative and proposed project budget. 

Note: If you do not have a Reviewr account, you will need to create one before you can apply for the NCHC Fall Portz Grant. 

Rules

Application criteria

Applicants must submit a supporting statement of no more than two pages addressing:

  1. Project description and innovation
    • Detailed description of the project
    • Project goals, rationale, and proposed budget
    • Explanation of how the project is innovative
    • How it will benefit the honors program or college in relation to one or more of the Shared Principles and Practices of Honors Education
  2. Project beneficiaries
    • Description of who will benefit at the applicant’s institution
    • Description of beneficiaries outside the institution, if applicable
  3. Institutional support and sustainability
    • Current institutional support for the project
    • Plans or support for continuing the project in the future, if applicable
  4. Outcomes and dissemination
    • Method for reporting the project’s outcomes and value to the NCHC Awards and Grants Committee and the broader honors community
    • Project results should be presented at an NCHC or regional honors conference

Funding restrictions

Portz Grant funds may not be used for:

  • Food or refreshments
  • On-campus space rental
  • Student travel for any purpose, including conference attendance
  • Regular operational expenses or routine continuation of existing projects
