The New Hampshire School Boards Association (NHSBA) is proud to offer a scholarship program designed to encourage and support young people who have indicated a strong interest in civic service in public education or a related field.

The NHSBA Scholarship is open to students who have served as a student school board representative during their high school tenure, and whose school board is a current member of the NHSBA. Children/grandchildren of the NHSBA Board of Directors are not eligible. The awards are only open to public high school students in their senior year.

Five (5) awards of $2,000.00 will be granted, one in each of the five NHSBA Regions (North Country, Lakes, Southeast, Southwest, and South Central). A committee comprised of non-NHSBA board members will make final selections. Factors considered by the committee will be academic achievement as an indicator of future success in post-secondary education, active participation in school-sponsored, extracurricular activities and/or community service activities, an essay on The Role of Student Voice in Decision Making (two-page typewritten maximum), and three (3) letters of reference.

To apply, applicants must submit the NHSBA Scholarship Application by selecting the signup and apply button. This application asks for identification information including a transcript of grades through the first semester of senior year, a short essay as described above, and letters of reference. Grantees (or parents/legal guardian in cases of minors) are required to sign a release authorizing the NHSBA to use their essays, names, pictures, and name of their school in announcements of the scholarship award; in promotions of the scholarship program; and in NHSBA program material.
