The Pitt Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the University of Pittsburgh's annual alumni awards, the Distinguished Alumni Fellow, the Bill Baierl Distinguished Alumni Service Award, Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award, the Ivan and Mary Novick Award for Young Alumni Leadership, and the Roc Spirit Award. See below for description and criteria for each award.

The Distinguished Alumni Fellow is the most prestigious alumni award conferred by the University of Pittsburgh. This award recognizes the remarkable contributions alumni have had locally, nationally, and globally.

Selection Criteria:

  • Degreed alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh
  • Previous recipient of their school or college’s highest alumni award
  • Distinguished service to the community and their profession
  • Professional achievement including (inter)national honors
  • Engagement and philanthropic support to the University of Pittsburgh

​The Bill Baierl Distinguished Alumni Service Award recognizes the volunteer service of alumni to the university.

Selection Criteria:

  • Degreed or non-degreed alumni of the University of Pittsburgh
  • Demonstrated outstanding service to the University

The Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award is a new award that recognizes the accomplishments of University of Pittsburgh alumni whose exceptional achievements in their profession, vocation, or community have had a profound and lasting impact.

Selection Criteria:

  • Degreed or non-degreed alumni of the University of Pittsburgh
  • ​​Demonstrated achievement in service to their profession, vocation, or community

The Ivan and Mary Novick Award for Young Alumni Leadership recognizes the accomplishments of recent graduates.

Selection Criteria:

  • Degreed alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh
  • ​Graduated within the last 15 years or age 35 or younger
  • Distinguished themselves in the area(s) of achievement or service

The Roc Spirit Award recognizes individuals for their outstanding enthusiasm, loyalty, pride, and spirit in support of the University of Pittsburgh.

Selection Criteria:

  • Degreed alumnus
  • Possesses genuine respect for and commitment to enhancing the University's traditions
  • ​Given freely of their time in promoting Pitt spirit and pride, positively impacting peers and inspiring others to demonstrate similar Pitt pride

Nomination Deadline is March 30th, 2025

Nominations are accepted from all University of Pittsburgh community members (students, alumni, faculty, and staff). The strongest nomination packets include completion of this form and submission of supplemental materials. Supplemental Materials may include (but are not limited to) the following: resume or CV, letter(s) of support, news stories, etc. All supporting materials must be uploaded to this form.
