Any graduating high school senior who lives in one of ABoR's 18-county MLS service areas and plans to attend a Texas university, college, technical, or trade school following graduation is welcome to apply.
What are the evaluation criteria for an ABoR Foundation scholarship?
We look at the whole student. Applications are evaluated on a combination of academic merit, extracurricular involvement, and financial need, so there's room for every applicant's strengths to shine, whether that's in the classroom, in the community, or both.
How are ABoR Foundation scholarship recipients chosen?
Our selection process is designed to be thoughtful, fair, and personal. It happens in three stages:
- Application Review: A dedicated team of volunteer members reads and scores every qualifying application. Based on the number of scholarships available that year, the Scholarship Selection Team invites a select group of candidates to move forward to interviews.
- Virtual Interviews: Finalists meet with the Selection Team in a short virtual interview, typically about 10 minutes, though times vary slightly. Every candidate is asked similar questions and evaluated on the same criteria, so each student has an equal opportunity to share their story.
- Voting: After interviews wrap up, each Selection Team member casts an anonymous virtual vote for recipients among the candidates they personally interviewed. If there's a tie, a virtual run-off vote decides the outcome.
Is the scholarship program only open to the children of ABoR members or REALTORS®?
Not at all! The ABoR Foundation Scholarship Program is open to the public. Having a family member who is a REALTOR®, ABoR member, or Unlock MLS subscriber doesn't give candidates any added advantage. Every applicant is considered on their own merits.
