Each year, Finlandia Foundation National awards funds to projects related to Finnish-American and Finnish history, heritage, preservation, arts, culture and more.

The deadline to apply is 11:59 P.M. on January 17, 2026.

Requirements and Criteria

  • Grant proposal must relate to a project occurring between May 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027. Funding cannot be provided before May 1, 2026.
  • FFN does not support institutional overhead or other administrative fees.
  • Grant proposal should be supported by a chapter of FFN.
  • Required documents must not exceed 8 pages. Any application exceeding that maximum will be disqualified.
  • Two Letters of Support are required. Applications are strengthened by having letters of support from local Finlandia Foundation chapters and letters from trustees or experts who can judge the merits of the project such as officials of government or non-government organizations. If you are not part of a FFN chapter, you can provide a letter of support from any entity/individual that supports your project.

  • Marketing Message: 1 Page Required
  • Local News Contacts: 1 Page Required
  • Two Letters of Support

Proccess: All applications shall be submitted by the January 17, 2026 deadline and applicants will receive a follow up email  in late April/early May regarding the status of their application. Awarded funds will only be disbursed in the month of May.

Grants are awarded for the current grant cycle only (5/1/2026-4/30/2027) and are not transferable to another project or person. Any unused grant monies must be returned in full to Finlandia Foundation National.  An interim written Grant report is required by 12/31/2026.
