For more than two decades, the Heroines of Washington Awards has celebrated professional women in the community to recognize excellence and leadership in volunteer service. An award will be presented to the most outstanding individual within each category, and all finalists will be recognized during the event.

More than just an awards gala, this initiative celebrates women who make a meaningful impact beyond their job titles. Nominating a women for this award is a powerful way to recognize leadership, elevate women in your organization or network, and showcase their achievements.

Individuals are first nominated by peers, managers, supervisors or even the organizations they have supported. Following, each individual is asked to submit an application to be considered. Each application is carefully and blindly reviewed and scored by a committee of former heroine awardees. 

The award categories are:
Real Estate & Construction  
Finance & Banking
Professional Services & Consulting
Health & Bio Tech
Technology & Cyber Security

This year's event co-chairs are Diane Nguyen of Microsoft Federal and Carly Mitchell of Guidehouse.

The event will take place at 6 pm on November 6th at The Ritz in Tysons, VA

Nomination Criteria & Eligibility:

All nominees must reside in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, or West Virginia.  

Nominees must be currently employed full-time in their respective industry. Volunteer activities do not have to align with the nominees professional career/award category.

Nominees must participate in a filmed interview. 

All finalists must be available to attend the Awards Gala at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner on  Thursday, November 6, 2025. 

Nominees must be amenable to press coverage and other marketing efforts.

Nominees must submit a nomination form online by June 2nd.
