Each year, the Univeristy of Tennessee, Knoxville Alumni Board of Directors honors outstanding alumni in four categories. These alumni from across the state, nation, and world bring recognition and honor to Tennessee’s flagship campus in Knoxville. A committee made up of members of the Alumni Board of Directors are responsible for the review and selection of the alumni awards.

 

Rules

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS/A

Our highest alumni honor.Dedicated to the spirit of the Volunteer, the Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award is reserved for alumni who have excelled at the national or international level. The purpose of this award is to recognize an alumnus or alumna of UT who has attained extraordinary distinction and success in his or her field of endeavor, whose achievements have brought credit to university and benefit to his or her fellow citizens.

ALUMNI PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

In honor of outstanding contributions to a profession. The Alumni Professional Achievement Award recognizes alumni who have a record of notable career accomplishments and a history of outstanding contributions to their profession. The award is presented to acknowledge their success which brings honor and credit to The University of Tennessee.

ALUMNI SERVICE

In honor of exceptional service to UT. The Alumni Service Award recognizes exceptional service or long-term continuing service or leadership to UT. It is designed to publicly acknowledge those individuals or organizations who have given significant amounts of time, talent, or resources to the university over an extended period of time.

ALUMNI PROMISE

In honor of young alumni with distinctive achievements. The Alumni Promise Award recognizes alumni no older than 40 who have demonstrated distinctive achievement in a career, civic involvement, or both. This award is presented to acknowledge alumni who are making a mark early on in their career.
