We are excited that you are considering applying for our college scholarship program. At the YMCA, we believe in empowering young people like you to reach their fullest potential. Our scholarships are designed to support students who demonstrate a commitment to learning, leadership, and community service. This opportunity provides financial assistance to help you further your education and achieve your dreams.

About the scholarship:

As part of our commitment to helping youth succeed, the YMCA, through the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation, offers a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors who live in or attend high school in the Dallas area*.

Selections are based on college entrance scores, high school grades, financial circumstances, community service, and the individual's personal motivation and desire for furthering his/her education. Students have an opportunity to receive:

(1) $40,000 Scholarship - $5,000 per fall and spring semester for 4 years
(1) $20,000 Scholarship - $2,500 per fall and spring semester for 4 years
(18) $12,000 Scholarships - $1,500 per fall and spring semester for 4 years

Confidentiality Policy:

Please be advised that it is the YMCA's policy not to disclose application scores or provide specific feedback regarding why an applicant may or may not have been awarded a scholarship. All scores and interview evaluations are confidential and will remain the sole property of the YMCA. We appreciate your understanding and adherence to this policy.

 *The following counties are considered part of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas service area: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hopkins, Kaufman, Palo Pinto, and Rockwall counties.

Eligibility:

Must be a graduating high school senior residing in the Dallas YMCA service area*.

No YMCA involvement required to apply.

Applicants must be available for an in-person interview on Saturday, February 15, 2025 (with a makeup date of Saturday, February 22, 2025, if necessary due to inclement weather).

Applicants must be able to attend the Scholarship Reception on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.


Application Deadline:

Submit the completed application with all required documents by Friday, January 31, 2025.

In-Person Interviews:

After the application period closes on Friday, January 31, 2025, YMCA volunteers will conduct an initial round of scoring. The top 40 applicants will be selected for in-person interviews. All applicants will receive an email notifying them of the outcome of their application on Friday, February 7, 2025.

In-person interview: Saturday, February 15, 2025.

  • Morning Session: 8:00 am - Noon
  • Afternoon Session: 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Makeup date (if necessary due to inclement weather): Saturday, February 22, 2025, with the same schedule as the original session.

We do our best to accommodate your preferred time slot; however, please note that each session has a limit of 20 spots. To secure your desired time, we encourage prompt responses.


Scholarship Reception:

Date: Tuesday, February 25, 2025

Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant, North Park Mall


Maintenance Requirements (After Award):

Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

Submit the following documents every semester:

  • Renewal Form
  • Previous semester transcript
  • Upcoming semester schedule
  • Progress letter describing activities, challenges faced, and future plans
