Description

Thank you for your interest in our 2027 Space Camp® General Scholarships! Applications will open on:

Monday, September 28, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. CST and will close on Sunday, December 6, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CST.

Scholarships cover the cost of tuition ONLY to the program of choice. Travel to/from Huntsville, Alabama USA and any other additions (airport transfer, early arrival, late departure, etc....) are NOT included in the scholarship and must be arranged by the scholarship winner.

**Please note that this is a residential program, meaning the campers will stay overnight in our Camp habitats.  Before applying, determine if the camper is comfortable with staying away from parents/guardians for a week.**

THESE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN AWARDED A SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE U.S. SPACE & ROCKET CENTER EDUCATION FOUNDATION.  Previous Foundation Scholarship recipients will not be considered for a scholarship.

An adult may assist the student in completing this Questionnaire form, but please allow the student to complete this scholarship application on their own!

Please use the student's name and parent's email to set up the account.

Written material will be judged with the aid of AI detecting software, so please turn in your own original work!

Submitting an application for a Camp scholarship gives consent to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Education Foundation to use submittal for foundation purposes. Examples include, but are not limited to: fundraising, promotional purposes, release of camper's first name and home state/country to scholarship donors.

 

Rules

Applicants must:

  • Be 9 -18 years old and have completed grades 4 through 12 by May 1, 2027.
  • Complete the required questions/projects specific to their scholarship application
  • Upload a form (provided in the application):
    • Academic Excellence (for students with a GPA of 3.25 or higher) - School form completed by school verifying enrollment and grade point average.  
    • Financial Need (for students who could not normally afford a Camp tuition) - Financial Need form completed by parent/guardian, 1040 Federal Tax Income Form

Application components additional information:

  • Mission patch that highlights the applicant’s achievements, goals and inspirations. This component includes a written description explaining the patch. The patch may be hand-drawn (preferred) or created electronically (with original hand-drawn patch as reference).  Please do not use AI assistance to create the patch.
  • Financial Need
    • Please confirm that you will qualify for Financial Need by referencing the FY26 Low Income Chart.
    • Three Essay Questions
  • Academic Excellence:
    • Additional Essay Question (4 total)
    • Science project (an experiment) following the scientific method or the engineering design process. The description of the project must include photos that support the project description. The project can be one that was done at home, but it must include photos.
