The Reubin O’D. Askew Young Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed upon young alumni by the FSU Alumni Association. Named in honor of former Governor Askew, this award recognizes his contributions to the state, nation and university. These young alumni continue Askew’s legacy of outstanding accomplishments built on the foundation of their education from Florida State University.

Reubin O. D' Askew Young Alumni Honorees will be recognized at the Florida State University Alumni Awards during Homecoming weekend.

A committee appointed by the Young Alumni Council selects the recipients of the Reubin O. D' Askew Young Alumni Award. Each year's recipients are notified upon approval of the Alumni Association National Board of Directors' Awards Committee in April. If a nominee is not selected in a particular year, they may be re-nominated in succeeding years.

Self-nominations are permissible. Recipients are notified via email letters from the FSU Alumni Association President and CEO.

The FSU Alumni Association's Reubin O'D. Askew Award, named in honor of former Governor Askew, recognizes his contributions to the state, nation, and university. These young alumni continue Askew's legacy of outstanding accomplishments built on the foundation of their education from Florida State University. Each recipient must be a graduate of FSU (undergraduate or graduate), age 35 or younger (as of 12/31/from the year prior), who has made exceptional achievements and significant contributions to their profession, community/society, or the university. The recipient must exemplify outstanding professional and personal development either through traditional channels or innovative approaches. 

Eligibility:
Each recipient must be a graduate of FSU (undergraduate or graduate), age 35 or younger (as of 12/31 from the prior year), who has made exceptional achievements and significant contributions to their profession, community/society, or university. For the Reubin O’D. Askew Young Alumni Award: named in honor of former Governor Askew, this award recognizes their contributions to the state, nation, and/or university.

Nominations:
Nominees must be placed in formal nomination each year with a completed online nomination form. Nominations can be made by anyone, including self-nominations. Nominations will be solicited through the Florida State University Alumni Associations newsletters, social media, and alumni chapters and networks. All nominations must be received by the Alumni Association upon the designated due date each year.

Nominations open: October 23,2023
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: January 12, 2024, by 5 P.M. for Fall 2023 Honorees. 

Honorees will be recognized at the Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala in October 2024.
