Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC) is the flagship journal of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB), serving the cell biology community for more than 30 years, providing researchers with constructive feedback and a platform to showcase their work to a global audience of cell scientists.
MBoC is inviting nominations for the journal's Early Career Board (ECB). Please submit your nomination by May 22, 2025. The inaugural cohort will consist of 25 ECB members appointed in 2025.
The members of the ECB will play a crucial role in shaping the growth and evolution of the journal, building upon the success of the journal to date. ECB members will provide input on the journal’s strategies, tactics, and outreach efforts and act as ambassadors to drive the journal's scope into new and emerging areas and ensure the journal is the home to global world-class cell biologists.
We look forward to welcoming emerging scholars as ECB members of MBoC. The initial term will be two years. The ECB members will periodically meet with the MBoC editorial team and participate in the annual editorial board meetings. The selected ECB members will be invited to join the Board immediately after selection in June 2025 and will serve through June 2027.
What you will do:
- Inviting submissions: engaging with the community and inviting submissions. Outcome: Five (5) research manuscripts invited per year. MBoC will welcome one or more papers from the editor's own laboratory within 2 years.
- Peer review: Receiving peer review training and supporting peer review with guidance from senior editorial board members. MBoC senior editors will offer peer review training, and you will observe the editorial process with the monitoring editors. When there are manuscripts in your research areas, MBoC senior editors will invite you to serve as reviewers and assist with the peer review process.
