OVERVIEW:
The National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA) is seeking exceptional workshop submissions for our 2024 In-Person Conference taking place in-person in BALTIMORE, MD on April 17-19, 2024. Featuring more than 30 workshops, three keynotes, and a number of networking opportunities and events across the 2.5 days, the conference is a valuable opportunity for those in the field of educational access to come together and share best practices for supporting historically marginalized and excluded students on the path to and through college.
Presenting at the NPEA Conference is a unique opportunity to showcase your best practices and expertise to a national audience of educators, including nonprofits, schools, and colleges, all committed to increasing access and success for underserved students across the country. It's also an opportunity to pose challenges, share ideas, and seek valuable input from others who are deeply involved in and committed to the education access field. NPEA seeks a range of perspectives from the educational access and success field, including school- and non-school-based direct service programs; independent, public, and charter schools; colleges and universities; other education nonprofits; funders; and more. Workshops should provide specific strategies, ideas, and resources that can be used across varying organizations, schools, and settings. We encourage proposals that are focused on best practices, while remaining relevant to the conference theme and demonstrating an interest in learning from those who are committed to dismantling systems of inequity.
ABOUT THE 2024 CONFERENCE THEME:
Pressing On with Purpose: Building Community and Forging a Path Forward in Education Equity
These past few years have presented many new and enduring challenges for our work in educational equity. At last year’s conference, we talked about “making the moment a movement,” and today, we are profoundly committed to forging a clear path forward for students from historically marginalized and excluded communities. Today’s movement requires that we press on with purpose during uncertain times by designing responsive systems of support, maintaining momentum despite setbacks, and pushing forward in a landscape that is often working against us. As a community, it is more important than ever that shared vision and purpose drive our efforts so we can be a united front for students and their families.
At this year’s NPEA Conference, we will come together to share strategies and ideas for reimagining, restoring, and rebuilding our work in educational access, college and career success, and equity and justice for students. As we tackle the immediate and long-term impacts of post-affirmative action, face the dismantling of policies that have served our communities, and collectively resist the ongoing assault on racial equity and diversity efforts, we will lift each other up, ensuring mental health and wellness are at the forefront. There is much work to be done, but our commitment remains strong - let’s move forward together!
PROCESS:
Each year, we receive more proposals than we have space available in our agenda. This year, we are actively seeking sessions that address topics identified in this call for proposals that align with the conference theme. Each proposal received will be carefully considered and discussed among the NPEA staff and a small group of external reviewers; sessions are then selected according to several criteria and with an eye towards creating a robust, diverse conference agenda that will appeal to the range of participants who attend.
